Now that things are slowing down with Hawn and Garden from the fall, Mitchell is beginning work on our back yard. Many changes are coming.
First we are taking out the concrete patio.

Florida Room: Almost Finished
So the repairing of the beadboard ceiling went fairly well.
Next, primed the entire room, caulked the windows, and began painting the walls. Trim we stayed with the Swiss Coffee color that is throughout the house, but for the German siding walls and walls around the windows we used our favorite color in the house, Montpelier Madison White. Mitchell was a big fan of doing a color, but I was nervous about it so we went with something mild. I am tickled about how it turned out.
The hardest part of it all was the floor. We had taken up the old carpet and had bought a couple chemicals to try removing the glue. Of course it was slightly more difficult that we anticipated. We ended up having to hand scrape the floor inch by inch. The past floor paint colors included blue, hunter green, light green, and red. Therefore, we ourselves turned green. Two weeks later my fingernails still have a green hue to them. Finally after just getting a the floor smooth we decided removing the paint was not worth it to stain the floor. So painting the floor it is. We chose Betsy Ross House Brown which is a nice dark brown floor. We went with only one coat to start with to see how it held up after lots of tables and chairs on it.
A nice surprise was that heating and air condition unit worked! Dad cleaned it out and oiled it up and we are good to go.
Lastly, we did all the little odds and ends: installed the blinds, ground the receptacles, add baseboard, replace the ceiling fans, and fix the light switches.

Florida Room: Cleanout
This is all the progress that was made after one day of working in the Florida Room. There is a lot of junk and tools to get rid of or find a place to put.
Lots more to get rid of and I am not sure where we are going to up it all! After we get it all cleaned out, we will begin repairing the ceiling’s bead board.
Update
Well, life got crazy at the end of October with Nia and Austin’s beautiful wedding. Then Mitch and I took a much needed week of rest. We hit the ground walking again in November and now we are back up to a run with working on the Florida room. More updates to come!

Rub a dub dub two men in a tub
Mitchell and dad are working on the faucet for the tub. The plumbing in the upstairs bathroom had major difficulties, but at 1:30am we are pushing through. I wish Lowes was 24 hour! At least one sink will work for the weekend. Commode and shower are for tomorrow.
By the way the tub looks really small with both of them in it.

Odds and ends
Due to the humidity, we have had a delay in the floors being finished and therefore a delay in working upstairs. In the meantime we are working on all the finishing touches downstairs. We added the medicine cabinet and light to the Austin suite bathroom for example.

Phase 3: floors
We have began the last stage of finishing the floors in our house. I like the color better and I am excited about getting to see it all. Here is the little preview of the stairs we saw today.
